Mexico's conservative presidential candidate Felipe Calderon declared victory on Monday in a bitterly contested election result as official returns showed him ahead of his left-wing rival.

Apparently, this is just the thing to do in North America. It's totally in for the 21st century.

Bush enrages John McCain by using "signing statement" to sidestep anti-torture bill that McCain thought was veto-proof. Signing statement allows Bush to ignore bill he just signed into law. What is wrong with this picture?

Welcome to the new America!

Tax cuts for the rich, no increase in the minimum wage for nearly 10 years, cost of living increases in the mean time for Congress/Senate "members" yet the war rages on. This is obviously a war paid for by the U.S. poor. No wonder they want to keep our borders open - our businesses can't afford to pay even minimum wage and that desperation helps fund their war! "From 2002 to 2006, the Army spent an average of $4 billion a year in annual equipment costs. But as the war takes a harder toll on the military, that number is projected to balloon to more than $12 billion for the federal budget

It looks like North Korea may be test firing an ICBM, going against a 2002 treaty against such action. Anyone else think that Kim Jong-Il is a CIA plant?

" The FOIA says that "representatives of the news media" can be charged only copying fees since they help to carry out the mission of the law by disseminating government information; but the CIA last year began claiming authority to assess additional fees if the Agency decides any journalist's request is not newsworthy enough."

So basically the CIA gets to decide what's news and what isn't through the FOIA. It's about time they came clean and admitted how much influence they really have over the media.
